The Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino has been officially taken over by Harrah’s Entertainment. Ownership was officially taken when the Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved the takeover on Thursday.
This means that Harrah’s now owns nine properties on the strip, including Caesar’s Palace, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Paris, Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall and Saloon, Bally’s, Imperial Palace, the Flamingo, O’Shea’s, Rio and now Planet Hollywood.
The sum total of employees in these casinos comes to 25,000 employees, with Planet Hollywood supporting about 2,300 employees. Added to this is that Harrah executives plan on filling 40 more jobs at Planet Hollywood.
Planet Hollywood takes up more than 100,000 square feet of casino space and has about 2,500 rooms. Added to this is a non-gaming, 52-story residential and hotel tower that has 1,200 suites, called PH Towers.
The players club program Harrah’s use is expected to be integrated into Planet Hollywood by April.
