The highest sports books profits in 10 years were recorded in Nevada recently, according to released Nevada Gaming Control Board figures.
The182 sports books in Nevada took in $82,726,367 worth of wagers, resulting in a winning percentage of 8.3 percent, translating to the monetary value of $6,857,101. There was a $1.2 million money wager increase from 2009, with the profit increasing by $179,000.
In 2006, when the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks, $94,534,372 was wagered- the most money bet on the game in the last 10 years. In 2008, sports books lost $2.5 million when the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots, one of the rare times a loss was recorded on the game for books.
