The casino software giant, Playtech and Scientific Games have agreed on a 50:50 joint venture called Sciplay in order to target state lottery operators worldwide. The aim is to focus on government as well as government to business lottery contracts.
By combining Playtech’s gaming software and products with Scientific Games’ successful customer base, Sciplay will provide online casino and gaming solutions to gaming operators backed by government.
Scientific Games has 120 customers worldwide including the UK National Lottery operator and the Chinese State Government for which Scientific Games produces eight billion State Sports Lottery scratch cards every year.
This move will ensure that Playtech will get closer to the US market before the ban on online casinos in the US is lifted therefore ensuring their position as supplier the of lottery in the US.
Chief executives Mor Weizer of Playtech and Mike Chambrello of Scientific Games released a joint statement that read: “Customers will benefit from best of breed content, sophisticated player management systems, and long-standing industry experience in providing highly secure, regulated, compliance-oriented services.”
