Although The Republic of South Africa (RSA) has had many laws placed, which have regulated the online gambling industry in the past, the governments silence on the matter has prompted many illegal casino operators to become successful and thrive due to the changes not being implemented properly.
During the course of last week’s national Gambling Review Commission, testimony was given implementing black market operations surging as a cause of the slow progression seen from the government, regarding these issues.
Rob Davies, the Minister of Trade and Industry in RSA holds the key to adjoining regulation as according to the Interactive Gambling Act. Within this act, the top ten online casino operators will be permitted to apply for a license and establish themselves as regulatory casino communities. This Act was approved over two years ago, and yet it still lies in the balance of Mr. Davies approval.
Industry insiders are urging the government to seize initiative on the legal gambling issues at hand before things get out of hand.
